PASSAGE MORPHOLOGY HIGHLIGHTING.

The Viewer has the ability to color cave passages according to the size and shape of the passage. The program analyzes the height, width, and cross sectional area and can color passages that fit into different categories. The categories include: Crawlway, Stoopway, Walking, Fissure, Canyon, Tube, Borehole and Climbs/Pits. Coloring specific passage types allows you to analyze the geology, and speologenesis. For example, you can easily see areas where there are vadose canyons or phreatic tubes. You can also pick routes through a cave that avoid crawlways, climbs or pits.

Here is an image of the Entrance and Rift area of Lechuguilla Cave highlighting fissure passages. As you can see, the fissure passages in the Rift area show up clearly.
